Fernando Schwartz

Fernando Schwartz is a seasoned sports journalist with over 40 years of experience across various media platforms including digital, TV, radio, and newspapers. He has worked in different capacities such as sports anchor, live coverage analyst and play-by-play, field reporter, voice-over artist, and newspaper columnist. Schwartz is proficient in both Spanish and English.

Schwartz has worked for renowned networks and media houses such as FOX SPORTS LATIN, FOX DEPORTES, ESPN, UNIVISION, Fox Sports (print), and Telemundo. He has also appeared on "Futbol de Primera," a US national syndicated radio show, and Televisa, a Mexican television network. He worked as a commentator for a Mexican weekly national syndicated radio show called "Comentando el Futbol" from 1974 to 1977.

Schwartz has written several publications, including "Vamos al Mundial FIFA 1994," "El Libro Olímpico," "Todas las Copas del Mundo. Mexico Rumbo al Mundial 94," "Por la Gloria del Deporte 1996," and "Una Vida en el Deporte –Memoria Grafica of Mario Vazquez Raña." He has been recognized for his exceptional work and contributions to journalism with several awards, including the Azteca Calendar Award 1980 by the Mexican Association of Broadcasting Journalists, Gold Hands Award 1984 by the Mexican National Association of Journalism, and The Best Journalist from Mexico City Award 1995 by Mexico City Government.

Schwartz is a voting member of the Mexican Soccer Hall of Fame, and he obtained a degree in journalism from the Journalist School Carlos Septien Garcia in Mexico City from 1979 to 1982. Additionally, Schwartz is a dual citizen of the United States and Mexico.

Schwartz's experience spans across several global events, including 10 World Cups, 12 Olympics (Winter and Summer), World Boxing Championship, World Boxing Conventions, five Pan American Games, four Central American Games, CONCACAF competitions and club tournaments. He has also covered motorsports events such as Formula Indy and Formula One. Schwartz's excellent journalistic skills and extensive experience make him a valuable addition to the SBMA Judges Panel.
