Janelly Farias

Janelly Farias is a Mexican-American soccer player and analyst from Santa Ana, California. She was raised by Mexican parents who instilled discipline in her lifestyle. Janelly's soccer career started at the age of four, although at that time, "soccer wasn't for girls." She grew up playing with her brothers and boys, enduring discrimination, but this did not stop her.
Janelly serves as an analyst for CBS Sports’ Concacaf coverage and has also contributed to WE NEED TO TALK. She is currently a defender for Mexican side Club Pachuca, and has also played for Club América and C.D. Guadalajara in Liga MX Femenil. Born and raised in Southern California, Farias is Mexican-American and has represented the Mexico Women’s National Team at numerous levels, including at the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Championship. Farias’ experience as an analyst includes covering the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup for Telemundo.
In addition to her storied career as both a professional player and TV analyst, Janelly is also known for her activism and drive to make social change through the sport of soccer. Farias has used her platform as a professional athlete and soccer analyst to speak out on issues such as LGBTQ+ rights, gender equality, and immigrant rights. She has given talks at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, runs a podcast, and is an advocate for change both on and off the field.
