Maurice Edu

Former U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT), Toronto FC, Rangers and Philadelphia Union midfielder Maurice Edu serves as a premier analyst and commentator for Apple TV's top Major League Soccer coverage. Following his retirement as a player, Edu originally joined the FOX Sports broadcast team in 2018, contributing to FOX’s soccer coverage across the 2022 World Cup, USMNT Team matches, Major League Soccer, 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, CONMEBOL Copa América 2021™, 2019 & 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup and more.
The former USMNT member was born on April 18, 1986, in Fontana, California. Edu played collegiate soccer at the University of Maryland, where he was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2006. After his collegiate career, Edu was drafted by Toronto FC in the first round of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft.
Edu played for Toronto FC for three seasons, where he became one of the team's most important players and earned MLS Rookie of the Year honors in 2007. In 2008, he was named the team’s MVP and helped the team reach the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Champions League.
In 2008, Edu moved to Scotland to join Rangers FC, one of the most storied clubs in Scottish soccer history. He quickly established himself as a key player for the club, helping them win three consecutive Scottish Premier League titles from 2009-2011. During his time at Rangers, he also played in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.
Edu returned to MLS in 2012, signing with the Philadelphia Union. He played for the Union for four seasons, making over 60 appearances for the club. He was named team captain in 2015 and helped lead the Union to the US Open Cup Final that same year.
